A boat owner’s checklist
Planning Your Boat Electrical Project
You do not need a finished specification before calling Kustom Boatworks. A few useful details make it easier to discuss your goals and the next step for your boat in Sarasota or the greater Tampa Bay area.
Start with the boat and the goal
- Make, model, year, and length.
- Where the boat is located and any access limitations.
- What you want changed, and what you want to keep.
- Existing and proposed electronics model numbers.
- Your preferred timeframe, without assuming a booking is available.
What affects a rewire or installation quote?
The scope of replacement, equipment selection, access, existing installation, and any panel or console changes affect the work involved. Boat length alone does not define a project. Discuss those details before comparing prices or buying equipment around an assumed installation cost.
Useful photos—not a diagnosis
Photos of the current helm, visible equipment labels, and safely accessible compartments can provide context. Do not open energized equipment or disturb wiring to get a picture. A photo cannot establish electrical safety or confirm the complete scope of a job.
Questions worth asking before work starts
Confirm the scope, equipment supply, scheduling, estimate terms, payment arrangements, and any applicable workmanship or product warranty. Ask what happens if additional work is identified. These are project-specific details to agree before proceeding, not assumptions to take from a generic website.
